Generative AI Policy TableTopCon

PURPOSE

Everything exhibited, displayed or sold at TableTopCon must be made by people, not generative AI.

TableTopCon exists to celebrate the designers, artists, writers and makers who create tabletop games and the things around them. Generative AI tools are trained on human work, usually without permission or payment. Products made with them compete directly with the creators who make our community what it is. This policy protects those creators and gives attendees confidence that what they buy is genuine.

WHAT WE REQUIRE

Exhibitors must make sure every product they exhibit, display or sell was created by people using their own skills.

This means no products that were made, wholly or in a significant part, with generative AI. Generative AI includes tools that create images, text, music, voices or 3D models from a prompt, such as Midjourney, DALL-E, Stable Diffusion, ChatGPT and similar.

What's allowed: you may use AI tools for spell-checking, grammar, translation and business admin, such as emails, scheduling or bookkeeping. These uses are fine as long as the creative work itself (the art, writing, design and components) is made by people.

The same rule applies to your stand. Banners, signage, posters, flyers and promotional material on display at TableTopCon must not use AI-generated art or text.

WHAT IT COVERS

The policy covers all products and materials, including:

- Board games, card games and roleplaying games, including their art, rules, text and components

- Game accessories such as dice, playmats, card sleeves, tokens, terrain and miniatures

- Artwork, prints, stickers, pins and posters

- Craft and handmade items

- Clothing and merchandise

- Books and zines, both fiction and non-fiction

- Stand signage and promotional material

Retailers are still responsible for checking whether the products they stock were made with generative AI, and must not display or sell products they know or reasonably suspect were.

APPLICATIONS AND SCREENING

We check for AI-generated content before we approve an application.

1. Every applicant confirms on the application form that they have read and will follow this policy.

2. We review the products, images and links you send with your application.

3. If we have concerns, we may ask for proof of your creative process, such as sketches, drafts, source files or work-in-progress photos.

4. We may decline any application we believe breaches this policy. Our decision is final.

ENFORCEMENT AT THE SHOW

TableTopCon organisers decide, at their absolute discretion, whether a product breaches this policy.

1. If we find a product that breaches the policy, we will ask you to remove it from display and sale for the rest of the event.

2. If you refuse, we may close your stand immediately. No refund will be given for your booth, deposit or any other fees.

3. Exhibitors who breach this policy may be banned from future TableTopCon events.

REPORTING AND CHANGES

If you think something at TableTopCon breaches this policy, tell a staff member at the information desk or email [email protected]. Please don't confront the exhibitor yourself. We will look into every report.

We may update this policy at any time. The version on our website applies.
